First time poster looking for LLMD in Boston, MA!

This is my first time using this forum so hello everyone!

A little background on myself - During the summer of 2015 I started experiencing intense shortness of breath no matter if I was walking or sitting. My PCP had me take several rounds of Prednisone but unfortunately that just made everything worse. Shortly afterwards I began experiencing this debilitating fatigue and weakness that plagues me today...I tested positive for a Mycoplasma infection but negative for Lyme according to my PCP. I eventually got tested through iGenex and the results showed + on bands 31, 41, 83-93 with 39 IND. Since then I've been taking different combinations of antibiotics plus some antimalarials but with little overall improvement.

An LLMD in NYC I've been seeing wants me on IV meds for what he believes is Lyme/Babesia/Bart. Unfortunately, my insurance won't accept his referral because I'm based in Boston...so my PCP referred me to an Infectious Disease specialist here in the city but he literally laughed at me when I told him I thought I had chronic lyme

So long story short, I'm looking to find an LLMD in Boston. I'm hoping there might be someone out there who is partnered within my insurance network so that my insurance would accept the claim for IV antibiotics.

Any contacts people have would be greatly appreciated as well as other general advice on this sort of thing!!! Thank you

Welcome to our community. I am so sorry that you have Lyme disease. But at least you finally have a name for all your symptoms.

You can also email Traveler (she is a moderator here) by clicking on her blue envelope under her name. She might have some recommendations.

You will want to find a well trained doctor, not one that has self proclaimed themselves as a LLMD or an ID Doc (Infectious Disease Doctor), as ID docs believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. I have an LLMD in MA, and know of two others (one I have not seen, and the other I worked with only briefly). I can e-mail their names to you.

Shuttergy, would you mind e-mailing me the names of your MDs? I had heard of a Lyme Literate neurologist at the Brigham who is associated with Faulkner Hospital, and I'm wondering if that is the same one. I had seen a LL neurologist in CT, but he did not accept insurance and it became prohibitive to keep seeing him.
