Hi Mareish
Lyme disease arthritis has been a tough nut to crack for me. I feel better generally speaking after being on antibiotics and supplements for the last three months. Unfortunately, thus far, I still have pain in my hands and particularly fingers if I use them too much, pain and popping in my wrists, lesser pain and popping in my shoulders, grinding at the back of my neck and lower spine, and intermittent knee and heel pain, combined with general weakness and easy tearing of tendons. As far as what improvement I have had, although it's been small, I have been using Neocell products, specifically alternating between 1 tablespoon of powder per day of collagen 1 and 3 supplement and four capsules per day of collagen 2 supplement. I have been augmenting this with 200 mcg of selenium per day. My alternation has been month-to-month, but I am considering alternating day to day. I read an article by Neocell, which states that collagen 1&3 do not work well with 2, so I have not been taking them together. As you know, with Lyme disease you are your own guinea pig. I would guess that within 24 hours each supplement would be used up and would not conflict with the other. As far as purpose, Collagen 1&3 are more oriented to rebuilding tendons and skin, while collagen 2 is more geared toward joints. The body needs selenium to make use of the collagen. I recommend these collagen products, but also realize that Lyme works against them, so they work slowly. Really the more you beat back Lyme disease, the faster they will probably work. I have long-term Lyme disease with biofilms and a coinfection of babesia that went untreated for 15 months, (see the reasons in previous posts on this thread). Unfortunately I have a way to go before the collagen can start to work quickly. I know it's going to happen. I'm going to be playing tennis again! Hope this answers your question. Here's to us running and jumping and high-fiving! Big hugs, Aylett
