Great discussion -
It is VERY difficult to discern between some floxxing sx and a herx from the treatment. What we have generally told members here is to proceed cautiously, and if you can find other atimicrobials that work (primarily for those treating bart), avoid the flouroquinalones.
I am surprised about
the JK and Samento having similar properties and it seems there is some disagreement about
that at the professional level... would be great to clear this up.
I have a gene that makes me allergic to flouroquinalones. I found out by taking Levofloxacin for chronic sinusitis and bronchitis back in 2013, the year I had those two infections for 13 months (which turned out to be fungal)...
MDs never cultured me and I knew nothing about
everything regarding abx or side effects and I cycled through about
8-9 different abx over those 13 months, some which gave me Lyme & Co herxing, but the sx were finally clear enough that I figured it must be Lyme & Co and got myself to an LLMD for testing.
So after my first Levofloxacin dose, I started developing an anaphalactic shock response. My mother shared that I was probably allergic to it like she was. But I also started developing very painful soles of the feet, swollen glands, some neuro-psycho mania... and some tendon issues and overall painful legs.
I suppose it's possible that I was floxxed, allergic and herxing all at the same time.
But my point is - so many of the floxxed sx are similar to the herxing sx and many people will stop taking the flouroquinalones out of fear. I don't blame them. But you need to continue treating bart, in case it's a herx.
Also, I've taken high doses of JK for 3 years and have never had a problem with it. I started samento and banderol a few months ago - had some good neuro herxing from it, which subsided in time, thankfully.
