I believe Bart can cause more neuro. and skin symptoms. I also had muscle twitching from it.

Also you should not drink any alcoholic beverages It can increase your neuro symptoms. Not saying you do, but just letting you know.

Vit B12 and B6 may help with twitching.

Tryptophan, mother wort, Scutellaria baicalensis can help with anxiety.

Not sure if you are open to taking herbal tinctures....but I have had good outcomes with some of the neuro symptoms when adding in Sida acuta.

Stephen Buhner's "Healing Lyme" 2nd edition book is excellent not only for taking herbals but very good information overall about Lyme disease.

This book also explains different treatments for specific symptoms.

Wish you well and do your diligent research before taking anything , I am not an medical expert , only know what helped me.

I agree with jo. Anxiety twitch nerve damage was bart borrelia ..it took me 6 months to say omg its not getting worse ...9 month to a year to say it a little better . I have hope now at a little into 1.5 years but idk how long you were sick...it infection stew amount of intercellular .treatment choices all make it so individual . Sweating is the best detox ..but it tooke a while and extreme temperature to be able to ..if your running and lifting weights you sound pretty good ...dont worry it gets better

Thanks everyone. I took my abx at 5 so an epson salt bath at 8 should be ok?

How is Bart treated? Any abx better than others?

I've been taking herbs on treatment for 8 months now, still having a rollercoaster of symptoms come and go- just went through the worst of the worst for 2 weeks trying to push through on higher amounts of herbs 3x a day Buhner recommends..

Just know it can take a long time depending how long you've had it. My ND told me it will take me 2-5 years before I'm cured, and then hopefully it didn't do permenent damage..

But the Herx is good as in it's killing the stuff, so you just gotta push through it and drink lots of water, dry brush and also colonics helps and infared saunas. You have to keep the temp below 140 and stay in only 20 min. Personally I can't excersise much, I would stick to walking and not too far daily, it can make it worse if u push yourself for sure.

You need something else besides the regular Lyme abx.

Rifampin or Rifabutin is most often used.


There are also the fluoroquinolones - but many LLMD's don't prescribe them because they come with a black box warning label - for risk of tendon rupture and peripheral neuropathy.
I consider them to be a 'last resort'.

Also be sure to take probiotics while on ax and know that that stuff also weakens your immune system, I wouldn't stay on it for too long. I haven't taken any ax yet just the buhner herbs, and my symptoms got lots better and I had lots of twitching all the time for almost a year before I got diagnosed and started on the herbs..
Improved a lot overall from where I was- only a few twitches here n there when I am herxing now.
