Hi All,

I'm new to this site and looking for a doctor that can help me figure out if these symptoms I have are related to Lyme and/or Mold.

I live in the northern Chicago suburbs and am willing to see someone in WI too if that helps. Must take BCBS ppo.

Background:
I've seen several doctors at this point, and they keep picking up little things that are wrong (gut infections, viruses, etc), and want to treat everything individually (antibiotics for this and that, I'm starting to get worried that I don't even need what they're giving me). So far tests that have come back abnormal and may point to Lyme or mold are: CD57 (low), C4a (high), MSH (low) HLA gene testing ("dreaded combination"), and Candida (positive). And no Marcons but I do have staph in my nose (then again it says 30% of the population does). Current doctor says I need to take 4 weeks of antibiotics for Lyme disease before I can get a Lyme test done (that's super scary to me to take antibiotics without an actual infection for someone who has candida issues).

Any recommendations would be appreciated, my current treatment and tests don't seem to line up with timeline or suggestions for mold or lyme and seem to be a little haphazard and are leaving me confused and frustrated. I'm worried without getting to the root of the problem I will keep having these infection and other weird test results pop up for the rest of my life!

I do have a list of LLMD's that I would be happy to send you names from, but I have no idea who accepts insurance and who doesn't, much less what type of insurances they accept. Seems patient referrals would be best for you - but, if you do wish to have me send you names, just send me an email with the area you live and I'll do my best.

Many LLMD's don't accept insurance still because that's one of the ways that they are loosing their practices for treating for these infections with something other than IDSA treatment guidelines (which are old, outdated and just plain fictitious).

Have you had tests specifically for Lyme (Lyme Elisa/IFA/Western Blot)? If you wouldn't mind listing the results (and any references ranges) we may be of help in deciphering them.

Many of us test without going on antibiotics....and do get a positive response, or at least some positive lyme specific bands showing up.

If you do test, I suggest you do so through Igenex lab in California. You can call them and order a test kit.
You need a Dr. to sign the lab req.

You can call and they will send you a test kit for free.

The test to get is the Lyme Western Blot IgM and IgG - total cost $210.

Hi Butterfly - I know of some LLMD's in the area. The one I'm seeing does take insurance. Please email if you want more info, though I think Traveler and others have all the names too.
