lyme test confusion

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if you could help me make sense of my test results for lyme.

First, let me say that my life was turned upside down two months ago as I started having racing heart issues, numbness, weakness, tingling, fatigue, and many more symptoms that were so severe I was unable to work for 5 weeks.

During this time, I had blood drawn on 5/13/17 for the B. Burdorfi ELISA with Reflex to IGG and IgM. The test was done by ARUP laboratories. My results for this test was .61, which is considered negative.

On 5/27/17, I had the IGENEX Western Blot IGG, IGM and PCR. The results were as follows:
B. Burgdorferi IFA-G/M/A Serum 80 positive
IGM positive 31++, 34+, 41++, 58++
IGG indeterminate 31+, 41+, 58+
Multiplex PCR Plasmid Whole Blood Positive

I am writing this because I am worried that I don't really have lyme, that I have some other disease that is possibly even worse, so I'm hoping to hear some expertise on this.

I saw my Lyme Dr. last week, who told me I for sure have Lyme, but she said I must have tested positive for the ELISA, but then probably tested negative for the second round of testing. I have since found out this isn't true, my ELISA test was negative. Is this possible? Please help.

Oh, you have lyme.

Not just because of your symptoms description...but those test results.

IgM positive with band 31 and 34 - lyme specific.

AND you had pcr blood positive. That means the dna of the bacteria was SEEN in your blood.
PCR's often produce false negatives...but when they're positive...they're POSITIVE.


The reason the WB wasn't done at the first lab is because the screening (Elisa) was negative...so they don't go on to the WB.
They will do the WB if the ElISA is positive (not negative like your Lyme Doc said)


You do have lyme....and you have a LLMD for treatment...now are you detoxing?

Hey, welcome to HealingWell.

The ELISA has a very high false-negative rate.

Your blood tests that you've posted here are pretty definitive. Positives all round. Band 34 is specific to Borrelia Burgdorferi. Your symptoms sound very Lyme-like too.

Probably want to think about finding a doctor to treat if you want to go that direction.

Thanks, everyone, I appreciate your responses.

@Girlie, My LD has me doing a castor oil rub at night, epsom salt soaks (feet only as I don't have a bath), plus I'm also drinking lemon water. I'm avoiding gluten and sugar so far.Any other suggestions? I will check out the "New to Lyme" section as well.

- A binder (eg Activated Charcoal...or powdered Bentonite clay....or DE) is good.

- Are you taking something for your liver? eg. Milk Thistle Extract.

- Dry brushing the skin before your showers.

- light exercise to get the blood flowing

Don't let a doctor tell you you don't have lyme.

A doc years ago ran a lyme test and told me I didn't have it.

last year a tested with Igenex, and I got positive results and positive PCR like you!

Igenex and your symptoms say you have lyme, so focus on treatment. we are happy to help with any questions along the way smile

As the others have said, you definitely have Lyme!
