Skipping Rifampin

Can you skip a dose of Rifampin? I wasn't sure about it building up resistance. I know someone had said that you have to take it within 24 hours of another antibiotic. I didn't know what the rule was for skipping doses.

I'm on azithryomycin and rifampin, but needing to cut back on something as I am herxing too much. Just didn't know which I should cut back.

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to skipping a dose of Rif - but what about just lowering the dose?

Someone that is taking/has taken it should be along shortly though. This post will at least help bump the thread to the top again.

If you are herxing hard taking a day or two off both Rif and Zith should not cause any long term issues.


I would sometimes take breaks for a few days especially before a holiday or special event.

It shouldn't be a problem taking a day or more off.

FYI - there are LLMD's whose protocols are pulsing the abx.

I stayed on zith and skipped the riffy often ...give liver and adrenals a chance ...the zith will keep it from replicating and has a 96 hr half life
