My doctor actually recommended, a few times a week, to open one of the capsules of probiotic and pour the contents right on your tongue. If you can't tolerate that, mix it with some applesauce or yogurt. That way some of it gets directly in your mouth to help the candida there. I guess probiotic foods (kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut, etc) would help that too.
I had candida before starting treatment and also read about
opening the capsule - I pour in onto a spoonful of kefir and swish it around in my mouth. Cleared it up (what was visible, anyway) almost immediately & haven't had an issue for over a year now. I do it every day & swallow the other capsules.
