the abx side of this, but I would suggest that you treat the heartburn and stay on orals if you can so you can avoid the risks of IV's.
You can do an at home stomach acid test to see if you are dealing with too high or too low of stomach acid:

For the heartburn itself, you can drink fresh ginger tea 3 - 4 times a day. Fresh ginger tea has been particularly known to be a benefit for resolving heartburn. Just Google ginger tea, acid reflux and all kinds of stories and articles will come up showing how it's helpful.
