Septra and the sun?

Starting Septra after my last appointment on Friday. Does it really cause issues with the sun? Is it as bad as doxy? We just bought season passes to our local small water park. I just sit in a lounger in the sun and watch the kids play or float around in the water. It feels so good on my muscles and joints, both the sun and the water.

I did read that it does cause sun sensitivity. I haven't experienced that though.

But, I've only been taking it for a few weeks...and we just started getting warm, sunny weather.

I'd be careful and sit in the shade...put sunscreen on.

I don't know if it's as bad as doxy...haven't seen many posting on it here on the forum.

yes bactrim /septra did mess with sun sensitivity , caused a kind of porphria and a vasculitis in me , not every thing is a herx

Was it painful? Yeah, I'm concerned about the sun thing. I pretty much know what to expect herxwise. I bought a big sun hat. Will sunscreen help prevent the reaction? Or is it caused by the actual sun in general and not just the UV rays? I don't even know what I'm asking. turn

I went from straight craving the sun to vampire status...it also killed so much bart so quik, i had subsequent nerve damage (speculative cause).
i read a study in uvbi and it said it worked for all persons except those that had taken a sulfa antibiotic ...its mechanism is inhibiting paba which we know they put in some sunscreens ...its a weird chemical type of burny.2 yrs later im still sun weary even after supplementing paba

It actually didn't cause me any troubles in sun (mino & bactrim). But i was super nervous about it and would put sunscreen on after 30 minutes or so. Doxy on the other hand caused me some nasty neuropathy!

I would initially wear sunscreen and then test it in short intervals. I personally feel like the sun has a healing effect on me and would change my antibiotic for the summer if it caused an issue.

I can't do without the sun in the summer. It would affect my mood tremendously.

I am a summer person...and love being at the lake, sitting on our back deck, going on road trips...

interesting - I had a stint with bactrim last year and my back pain (burning) increased tremendously - I assumed herx...but it was way worse than prior bart herxes (on mino or biaxin) - maybe it was the bactrim.
I think it was in May - not sure it was from the sun...or just the Bactrim on it's own.

I'm thinking I'll cross it off my list for now anyway. I've been wary of it - just because of the Stevens johnson syndrome - and - I do know it's RARE - but I can't get the picture out of my head that I saw when I googled it.
(not to mention bluelyme saying it made his blood boil shocked )
