Midnight adrenal test results

My saliva cortsol results:

< 0.03.

10 pm - 1 am should be < 0.09

I am within normal range. The endo states she goes by cdc guidelines and refused to do a 4 point cortisol test. She also stated that the midnight test really shows how your adrenals are functioning. Mind you, usually after 11 pm my anxiety subsides. Those of you in the know what are your thoughts?

My only thought is how ridiculous!!! Of course your adrenals will be down during the night, but there's no way to tell what your morning cortisol is like or your afternoon cortisol by doing it that way.

Wow - an Endo told you that!

What if you're low all day?

My GP although she didn't have me do the 4 point cortisol, at least she tested my morning cortisol via blood as well as a 24 hour urine test which showed I was way over the 24 hour range.

Then I had to do a cortisol suppression test.

We followed up a few months later with another 24 hour urine test.

Plus she ordered a scan for my adrenals.

Many months later I did the 4 point saliva.

ZRT labs is what I used for the 4 point saliva - I ordered the test myself - no Dr signature was needed.

Huh. I just started low dose cortisone to help support my adrenals and help with morning fatigue. I never took a test though.

Do some people have high cortisol? Cortisol suppression? Can high cortisol cause anxiety?

Looks like I have some research to do....

Lostcoast - I wouldn't take low dose cortisone without a test first. You could have high cortisol...

What if it's your thyroid causing the fatigue...or did you test for that (FT3 and FT4 included)?

Yes, high cortisol and anxiety are related... it can work both ways. Anxiety can cause high cortisol and high cortisol can cause anxiety - vicious circle.

My Dr. figures my high cortisol was due to stress - physical and mental (I was in a lot of pain...and didn't know what was wrong with me - so mental stress was there, too)
