I was misdiagnosed with conversion disorder despite having lesions on my brain three and a half years ago. I was supposed to have a spinal tap at a leading hospital in my state, but the neurologist said that all my problems were psychological and discharged me without the test. The spinal tap was looking at several different things including the Lyme antigen. Anyone have any success with a malpractice suit? I have contacted several attorneys only to be told that there was no proof that things would have been different with an earlier diagnosis. Since the onset of neurological symptoms I have been diagnosed with anemia, colitis, IBS, Diabetes, and breast cancer. I honestly believe that some of these conditions could have been avoided with proper diagnosis at the onset.

I'm so sorry you've had this happen to you.

I have not heard of a successful malpractice suit.

Many, many of us have been either undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for years...unfortunately.

Are you now in treatment? Or have you healed?

I believe there could be a statue of limitations for bringing a case in some states, just something to be aware of.

Understand how you feel, so much could have been prevented for many of us.

I have only been treated with one round of Zithromax for two months. I have had a follow up MRI which showed worsening of the lesions in my brain. My physician is trying to find a neurologist to refer me to, but so far has had no success. I experienced a Herx reaction upon starting the antibiotics. (That was fun.... ) And at any given time for any number of triggers I will develope tremors to my hands, arms and head, full body contortioning, uncontrollable clapping, stuttering, weakness, extreme fatigue, jelly legs, insomnia, and feeling the need to peel my skin off(these are the most common) These symptoms have progressed over the past three years and most of my triggers are sensory based.

You really should see a LLMD (Lyme Literate DR ) for treatment...not a Neurologist - as you will most likely be dismissed. Unless the Dr. is lyme literate - he will most likely say you don't have Lyme disease...and on the small chance he says you do - he will say that your treatment was long enough...and you are stuck with the rest of your symptoms.

Zithromax for 2 months isn't nearly long enough treatment for Chronic Lyme.
