Yesterday I had my second LLMD appointment after treating for three months.

My LLMD is switching my cefdinir to minocycline (100 mg 2x a day) and keeping me on my Clarithromycin.

She also wants me to start:

cryptolepis in hopes to hit babs (which I may or may not have)
Lactoferrin which I have read absolutly nothing about.. Anyone ever hear of this or have tried it?
Xylotol to bust up biofilms
And she gave me the OK to add buhner herbs one by one (chinese skullcap, japanese knotweed, etc)

What does everyone think about this? Is minocycline good for lyme? She said she prescribes it during the summer because the sun doesnt affect people the way it would doxy. And Lactoferrin.. not sure about this supplement or what it does. She said it is an immune booster but i have read its a biofilm buster?

I don't know much about these as I'm new and only been treating 3 weeks. I'm only on cefdinir 1200mg a day. I've tolerated it well and see no improvement. I see my Dr tomorrow so we will see what he puts me on. hopefully someone will come help you.

How do you feel after 3 months? Any improvement?

How long have you had Lyme? Three weeks of treatment isn't enough time to know if a medicine is working or not in my opinion.

If you are only on one antibiotic I'm surprised its not a tetracycline class drug, although I am not an LLMD lol!

After three months I would say I am overall 30% better. I have a few good days then about 5 days where I just feel very very fatigued with brain fog, weak legs and lightheadedness.

With treating Lyme you have to be patient especially after having it for any more than a couple weeks. If I were you though, I would talk to your doctor about taking more than one antibiotic, unless you arent able to tolerate.

Make sure you are detoxing, drinking TONS of water, and PROBIOTICS! Hang in there! smile

He didn't wanna put me on doxy because of summer and the sun. I believe i have babs from my labcorp results that i saw online. I'm sure tomorrow he will address that and start treating. I've had symptoms for 1 year before going to an llmd. Everyone thought i had post partum depression. Go figure.

How long have you had it for?

I'm curious.. what are you symptoms?

I am not sure how long I have had Lyme.. Since I was very young (I'm 24) I always would get headaches and slight fatigue, but about a year ago I started getting really bad fatigue and all that. So I may have only had it for a year, or may have had it for years.. not sure.

I wasnt actually officially diagnosed with anything besides tachycardia, but my doctors thought I was crazy and mentioned early symptoms of MS (because of tingling in my face) and anxiety (which I have NEVER had).

Took me two times to tell them to test for Lyme before they did and my western blot was positive through labcorp.

Xylitol and Lactoferrin is a biofilm busting protocol.

Clarithromycin is old school way to hit Babesia.

Minocycline is a good abx especially for neuro issues.

Cryptolepis did nothing for my babesia but it has helped others.

Ramp up the buhner herbs one at a time. Start at some low dose try it for a few days than ramp up. It can take a while to get all of them going but its more important to take different types of herbs simultaneously versus ramping up to a higher dose on less herbs as they work synergistically.

I would start these first:

Cryptolepis
Sida Acuta
Bidens Pilosa
Artemisinin (you can get recommendations on a good one to take)

My symptoms are tingling in the face and head (also thought I had ms). Tremors, joint pain and swelling, eye floaters, brain fog, dizziness all day, it's terrible. I feel so spaced out. Oh and my left calf is wasting away

Interesting! So you would start with one drop of several herbs and slowly increase rather than do one herb at a time?

My LLMD said that mino can cause some bad side effects like the feeling your on a boat for a few weeks.. I hope that doesnt happen to me because I still go to work.

Nic-Babs treatment often heightens dizziness before it eliminates it.

Physedgirl-Single abx treatment is rarely effective. You need to be on a combination treatment. A single abx will typically stop growth but not kill off.

Yeah I know. I think that was the point. To stop growth until I got my lab results back

Tomorrow we go over the results and I guess discuss the meds

Maybe not one drop I'd try and get to enough drops where you feel it via increase in symptoms. Another way to say it ramp up an herb to whatever level your symptoms allow, then you can switch to another.

The below is a question to Buhner a few years ago on ramping up capsules but the approach and response you have is the same.

Hi Nic,

You should research Mino. It does come with possible sun sensitivity. May want to be careful in sun till you see how it affects you.
