about 5 or 6 weeks ago I developed some curious symptoms while on vacation in Cuba. It began with pain when swallowing, voice changes, vertigo, and headaches. These symptoms more or less stopped after 2 weeks, at which point I felt back to normal.
Unfortunately feeling normal didn't last long. I came down with cold-like symptoms (sneezing, run-down, lots of green mucus) and pressure in my head. The other symptoms have stopped, but the pressure still remains. I saw my PCP 2 weeks ago who referred me to an ENT.
I saw the ENT today and he spent very little time with me. He said he didn't suspect it to be a sinus issue. He noticed a lot of wax in my ear and mentioned writing me a prescription for that. He also recommended an MRI or CT scan (don't remember which) just to see what was going on up there, but otherwise seems eager to pass the buck to a neurologist.
I'm wondering whether it's even worth getting the imaging done. I do have bartonella, and from what I understand what I am experiencing is a very common symptom of bartonella (though admittedly, I'm not sure how the initial symptoms in Cuba would tie into it). Any thoughts?
