Multiple lymph nodes under chin along jawline

Hello all, new to the forum but have been following for awhile. I am a bit of a hypochondriac (to put it lightly). about 2 days ago I was feeling under my chin along my jawline and felt multiple pea sized or smaller lumps. I am thinking these are submental lymph nodes. I don't really have any other symptoms of feeling sick except for a slight tickle in my throat, which I feel like I have had off and on for a week or 2.

I feel like I have felt bumps and lumps under my chin in the same areas before, but I don't think I have ever noticed this many before. I guess my main question is does anyone else feel multiple lumps under their chin along their jawline when they press down. My girlfriend is a nurse and says she can feel some in the same spot under her chin, but I am worried she is saying that to calm my anxiety. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow and will follow up if anyone is interested, however I was hoping for some reassurances tonight so I can hopefully get some sleep. Thank you all.

Hi and welcome to our forum,

First, it is good that you have an appointment tomorrow, maybe your doctor will help you figure these symptoms out.

Its good to get checked out and see whats going on.

Have you had a tick bite or bullseye rash, or other symptoms than the ones you mentioned?

Hello Jo,

Thank you for your response. I do not believe I have had a tick bite or anything like that. Although I was at a friends riverhouse last week and could have gotten something there. Other than that just the very slight ticklish throat for a couple weeks. I was with my girlfriend a couple weeks ago who had strep, so I could have some remnants from that. Although I do not have the sharp throat pain typical of strep.

Other than that I really don't have any other symptoms. No night sweats, headaches, fatigue, weight loss. I was able to play basketball the other day fine without any abnormal fatigue. All I've noticed is the nodes under my chin along my jawline. A few days ago I also felt like I felt something in my chest (I'm a guy) but I think that was just natural indents in my muscle. I poked my chest enough to the point it became quite painful haha.

Is your appointment with a Lyme literate doctor? Are you suspecting a Lyme infection? Keep us posted on the outcome.

Swollen lymph nodes can be lyme or many other things.

I sure hope you don't have lyme. Maybe just a slight illness and the lymph nodes are swollen. Fingers crossed.

go to your doctor ask for an ultrasound of the nodes. it is a special type of ultrasound of the soft tissues.

swollen nodes there can be an infection in your throat, jaw , teeth, EBV reactivation, bartonella, lyme, and a very very small chance .... lymphatic cancer. the ultrasound will give you some peace of mind with the later.

dont stay like this and stare at them, check them out.

i have the same thing btw, submandibular node , submental node (close to the first). every 6 months i go check them, so far so good, they are not growing. but i have positive tests for bartonella quintana and borrelia, both of them can cause swollen nodes, so i would say i am not shocked...
