Girlie, this is just in my case, my experience.
Before, when I reached remission, I fell ill again either with a NEW tick bite or I simply relapsed.
If you consider that lyme is an infectious disease, caused ONLY by a new tick bite, a new infected tick bite will make you ill again.
But if you consider lyme is like a cold, flu, herpes, Hepatitis C, Staphilococcus, Strep, candida, meaning, you can be in contact with these pathogens, but do NOT develop the disease while some people around you do, it means, you consider lyme as an immune condition.
In my opinion (if I'm allowed to have one), lyme is ALSO an immune disease, because people with positive Westernblots or people who are bitten by infected ticks do not NECESSARILY develop lyme disease.
There are studies showing that a great part of rural Switzerland, exactly in the area I live, are Westernblot positive but show no sign of lyme and live long (people live quite long here compared to many countries).
In my area, 25% + ticks are said to be contaminated with Bb. It means, statistically, that 4 bites would mean 100% of chance to have been injected Bb in the blood.
Almost everyone I know who lives here have had numerous tick bites in their lives, but no one (except me and my daughter) developed lyme.
Before, when I was in the 'almost healed phase', I got bitten and fell ill again, almost invariably. One bite = hell. My daughter too.
Now we still get bites, I got 6 only this year 2017, my daughter 3 so far, now fall will come and we'll get some more, but we don't develop lyme.
We treated lyme thinking it was an immune disease problem, not only an infectious disease problem.
The same way dr. K treats, or dr R from Parc Clinic treat: they don't see lyme as a separate disease, but as an immune and toxic disease.
Our practitioners followed dr. K who is very much in tune with dr. R, meaning, biological medicine. Antimicrobials were of small importance compared to everything ELSE we treated.
heal the toxicity and the immunity, you get bitten, and do not fall ill any longer. That is what I call fully healed. I simply became like all my neighbors and people in my village: they get bitten, by the same nasty infected ticks and never fall ill.
We? We were either in wheel chair or totally home bound in the past.
