mpost - isn't diflucan an anti-fungal - are you saying it has antibacterial properties as well?
it is not only antibacterial, it is anti persister on the same level with daptomycin, see Table 1 in link below, it's among top 10 hits (Table 2)
www.mdpi.com/2079-6382/4/3/397/htmA big advantage of diflucan as anti-borrelia is it crosses the BBB in concentrations above 90%, so basically it does not get stopped by the BBB at all.
"The maximum blood drug concentrations (Cmax) of several active hits, including 3-formyl rifamycin, oltipraz, and fluconazole, were higher than the MICs of these drug candidates, indicating these drugs are likely to achieve clinically relevant drug concentrations. "
The problem with diflucan/fluconazole is as i said, liver... very toxic.
But the point is there are MANY incoming treatments for people with persisting symptoms, this research was published late 2015. Nobody knew about
diflucan as anti borrelia drug before. Hell, nobody knew Borrelia has persisters in the scientific community before 2015. Yes LLMDs had a hunch, but this was just "lessons from the field" not consistent lab findings.
Now everybody is searching for antipersister drugs for it...A lot of hope ahead.
