I smell smoke all the time

For the past week I've been smelling smoke and it's getting worse. At first it was just once or twice a day for a few minutes, but now it's happening more and more often and lasting longer. It seems to start about two hours after eating anything, and chewing gum makes it worse. It smells like a campfire, but also like a chemical or plastic smell.

I have never in my life smelled anything like this [and I don't smoke and am not around anyone who smokes]. I am getting headaches and nausea from the smoke smell. My eyes are also burning and my rose runs [usually when I eat]. I read online it could be related to a sinus problem, brain damage, nerve issues, seizures, anemia, allergies, acid reflux. Not sure what to think at this point but I know it has to be lyme related. Anyone else ever experience anything like this?

If you're getting headaches and nausea from the smell, it could be chemical sensitivities. When my chemical sensitivities went bonkers, I could detect smells that I hadn't noticed before and had physical reactions to them. If that's the case, it's not a hallucination. It's just you're smelling things at a hyper normal intensity.

Been there. But my smells were pleasant.

Also the sense of smell can be heightened too. Sometimes driving is the worse because I smell everyone exhaust.

Whoa! I've been pondering this for years. For me it's like cigarette smoke but not exactly. It's difficult to place the exact smell, and it's probably different to each that this happens to. It will suddenly start and last a couple to a few days then disapate. You definitely know it's you especially after it reoccurrs so many times. Glad I'm not the only one either and hope yours doesn't last long

Quite possibly has nothing to do with Lyme. I've had this before I had Lyme and it was a sinus infection. Quick treatment of the infection and it went away. Not saying it's not Lyme but if you have any sinus issues you'd probably want to go that route first.
