Yes, a little cake can feed a gigantic yeast/fungal surge. I have another suggestion for you - email me. Burning eyes was one of my very clear y/f or biofilm sx.
Also, knowing it was ice cream cake, could suggest another issue. There are tons of chemicals in processed ice cream (which barely resembles real ice cream) and one of them is pretty bad - I can't remember what it's called - google it. Anyway, it can cause all sorts of problems--mostly GI.
And last, I noticed that only when I addressed biofilms did my typical yeast/fungal issues get resolved entirely. And I notice an increase in some of these sx whenever I have dairy and I THINK it's a biofilm issue, not a y/f issue but not sure. It could be y/f living within biofilms and so they go hand-in-hand in some ways.

Sorry I did not see that post of yours. I would have a LOT to add. I shared some of my experiences in the Y/FO post in the "New to Lyme?" thread:
www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=30&m=1606610&g=3644275#m3644275As you described, the y/f and biofilms can originate in the gut and grow up the throat and into the head. I had quite a few eye problems, including the increased "gunk" when I would wake up in the AM. Your tear ducts help flush debris out of your eye as you're sleeping, and that is what causes the normal "sleep" that you wake up with in the corner of your eye. However, the y/f and biofilms can really grow overnight and this is usually the cause of the crusty and gooey gunk we can wake up with.
And the "peeling" - it's not skin peeling off, it's the y/f or biofilm. It grows out of the orifices (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, genitals...and belly button) and is either killed with soap use or the skin airing out (and sometimes continues to grow in folds of skin or on moist skin - which can frustrate sports enthusiasts or people who sweat a lot). I read an article awhile back about
a woman who was diagnosed with stomach or GI cancer - because of the y/f or biofilm growing out of her bellybutton - the article didn't identify exactly what it was (probably because MDs had no clue - they never understand this stuff) but it looked like flakey dry skin or a dry film flaking off, none of which is supposed to be there! It was one of my red alarm sx when I first started out.
And yes, MDs are CLUELESS about
this. All of it.
