I have been taking minocycline and bixain for a couple months now and havent seen improvement while taking them. I saw most my improvement in the first 4 months of treatment while I was on biaxin and cefdinir.

I let me LLMD know all of this and now she wants me to stop minocycline AND biaxin for a week and then do three weeks of tindamax. I dont really know much about this drug, but what does everyone else think of this?

I am not sure why I should stop both the mino and the biaxin either...

You can take those drugs together but every LLMD has their own approach. Tindamax is a good cyst buster and does kill lyme. It's also an anti-parasitical. Bringing this into the equation is a good approach as most LLMD's do this.

Tindamax is a strong drug. Most LLMD's pulse these meaning you don't take it every day but if you do then its not for a long period of time hence why she said 3 weeks.

To be honest I've never heard of taking this (or Flagyl in same family) for 3 weeks straight by itself but that doesn't mean its the wrong approach.

You will probably herx hard so maybe she's trying to control the die off so you don't become completely useless during this time.

I personally see no problem with this approach.

Are you doing 500mg 2x/day daily for 3 weeks?

I originally took tini and doxy. Then was switched to mino and tini, which made me very dizzy. I was pulsing 3 days a week.

The LLMD also had me start herbals the second month, every day.

I recently found some articles online by Marty Ross MD. If you go to treatlyme.net under Free Reads he has an article called the Lyme Disease Antibiotic Guide. It's a good summary of what they all do. Of course he has his own recommended protocol too, some of which I thought made sense. I liked having all the meds explained in one place. He discusses herbals too.

I appreciate your feedback. I just called the pharmacy and they said the dosage is 500mg 2x/day for three weeks. Does that sound about right? Or does that seem like a lot? I wish she would pulse but she never does..

Yes, that is the usual dose for Tinidazole.

Yes, that is the usual dose for Tinidazole.

No, I haven't. But I don't know personally of anyone who has taken Tinidazole for 3 weeks straight on it's own.

That doesn't mean it won't work though.


My LLND has patients pulse it 2 days per week and for several months at a time.

It's usually done in conjunction with other antibiotics...so I could never tell if it was Tinidazole or other antibiotics that improved my symptoms. (with my LLND it's always done with other abx)

Yeah that is why I think it is weird that she is dropping both mino and biaxin. Seems like I should continue the biaxin at least, but I guess I'll go along with it.

She just treats so differently and it scares me. I feel like I maybe should find a "better" LLMD.
