10LymeB - You question is kind of vague. Dont get too worked up over this. Autoimmune comes in different forms.
A lot of autoimmune is assumed. Meaning there are no antibodies, so its just a guess, but usually a good guess.
Technically "real autoimmune" has elevated antibodies associated with certain organs or body systems which can be tested via blood labs.
Example ; many people with RA, Thyroid or Celiac specific antibodies will also have general body inflammation ANA antibodies. 20% of the general public have pos ANA antibodies but dont feel sick/ill. But sometimes pos ANA means something. People with more organ specific antibodies have very obvious life quality issues that needs treatment , special diet or both.
It would be interesting to see how many lymies have pos ANA antibodies (general whole body inflammation). I did (past tense).
