Just curious who has been on malarone to treat babesia? How much did you take? I am only on one 2x a day but llmd wants me to increase. I'm also taking cryptoplus and it's taken me a long time just to get to 20 drops 2x a day! I also just started artemisinin intrinsic (starting with one drop). Another question I have is did anyone have lots of weird dreams on malarone? I'm also taking amoxicillin (1500mg a day) and I guess I have to start azithromycin back up, just took a week off.

I haven't taken Malarone for Babesia.

I know one LLMD has his patients start with 2 pills twice daily for 3 days and then after that it's 1 pill twice daily.

He combines either azithromycin, biaxin, doxy or mino with it.

Sometimes adds bactrim to the combination

When I first started malarone it did give me vivid weird dreams. Not really nightmares just very active and strange. I was on 250 mg 2 x day. with bactrim and azith. back then.

Thanks Girlie and Goshawk! Goshawk, did the malarone work for you? Were you able to take care of the babesia? Girlie, was babesia a co-infection for you and if so how did you treat it?

tonya - I did lyme and bart treatment for 2 1/2 years and am finally now doing Babesia.

I am taking Mepron instead of Malarone.

I'm taking Mepron/Ceftin/Azithromycin/Artesunate/Tinidazole.

I was taking minocycline - but last month switched it to Ceftin.

I am on a pulsed protocol.


I've been treating for 6 months...nothing great has happened yet.
Only improvement is my pulsatile tinnitus has resolved. (except sometimes in the early morning I have it's mild)

I still have shivering and chills, sweats, some head pressure (actually that has improved some, but it initially worsened), nerve pain, POTS, sore feet.

Girlie, Have you tried Sida acuta yet?

Maybe adding in a few of the babesia herbs might be helpful and some for Bart(sore feet) again too.

I have been on malarone for 8 months. I started out with one pill a day and by the third month I was taking 2 pills twice a day. I took that dosage for 4 months along with zith or doxy and artemisia. I then stopped malarone to try coartem for a second time.

I love coartem but I break out in a bad rash so it was stopped. I started back on malarone but I am only taking 1 pill twice a day currently with artemisia and cryptolepis.

Thanks for letting me know! Wow, I guess it can be a very long road to recovery for some! When I finally got a diagnosis after almost a year and a half of searching for what was wrong with me I was told by a couple people they got better in a year! I was so hopeful! But it's been a year and it I can't see the end of this path any time in the near future. Girlie would you say your much better? (So sorry you still have those symptoms). Goshawk are you still treating? How about you Loutucky? I know we are all different, just so wish there was an actually cure and a fast one!!

tonyaraven, eight months in and I am struggling. I am also dealing with lyme and possibly bart is back. It is a battle for me.

I was taking Sida for several months when I was doing Buhner's bart herbs along with lyme antibiotics.

My feet were better when treating bartonella (Rifampin), but that symptom returned when I switched over to Babesia meds.

So, I've recently added in the CSA...

I know what you mean!!! I've been so healthy prior to this...and thought I'd be done with this in a year.

NOPE~

If you look at my symptoms on paper - it looks like I'm doing well. Close to 40 to start - down to less than 10 now.

BUT - a couple bad ones are still with me...my worst, in fact...so I am still unable to fully function - can't work yet...etc. Stuck at home a lot - obsessing,crying, cursing...

Ugh!! I've always tried to be a good person and carefully put spiders outside instead of squashing them but I seriously could go Rambo on ticks!! Those little *******monsters!!

wife is doing malarone 2 pills 2x/day 9 weeks in. she's not seeing much improvement.

i'm sorry but those that "beat babesia" in any short time are few and far between. i've been treating for 17 months (1 year then took a break for a year now 7 months) and i haven't quite gotten rid of it yet. its a very persistent bug and takes time and patience to unravel its devastating effects on the human body.

some will argue bartonella is just as difficult to treat. both seem to be very difficult when they are paired with lyme which most seem to get these days (the 3 B's).
