Adderall or stimulants

Does anyone take Adderall or stimulants to help them throughout the day? I took 20 mg of Adderall and it increased my anxiety 10 fold and I couldn't sleep for 2 days. Does Lyme make stimulants intolerable? I have been taking Adderall my whole life but since getting Lyme I can't take it!

I could not take a couple of herbs because they made my heart funny.

I could not take a hot shower. I felt so faint and almost collapsed once.

Somethings we can't do and there are some we can.

Make sure you let your doctor know. Can you just stop Adderall? Or are you suppose to wean yourself off them?

Lvg - is your cortisol low? Has it been tested?


If not, you could do a 4-point saliva test to see how it is thoughout the day.

If you are low...a low dose of hydrocortisone would be better than Adderall.

Hello peteza I don't take adderall everyday just when I need to get things done. I honestly think the Lyme has given me add.

Thanks Girlie- my doctor checked my cortisol and it seemed perfectly fine. I see dr. J in D.C. they don't do the saliva test. Any suggestion how I could do that? I thought hydrocortisone lowered the immune system? I thought all steroids lowered the immune system?

If you suffer from low cortisol - then a tiny dose of hydrocortisone is warranted...and it's low enough that it shouldn't suppress the immune system.

One lab that does the 4-point saliva test is ZRT Labs.

What did Dr. J. say about the Adderall?

Well I see Kim his PA. She wants me to take adderall because she said for some patients it helps their sleep/wake cycle. Magnesium doesn't do anything. I think I'm different from most people- like herbs or vitamins or b12 none of those things help they aren't strong enough. I am going to order atp fuel and see if that helps or NT factor

Hi Girlie,
Yes I've taken Adderall my whole life. But once I got lyme the Adderall caused weird effects. It caused me to be paranoid and gave me a ton of anxiety. Before Lyme I toook it everyday and no problems. But I think the Lyme has made my add worse so I need it even more now. It's just a big mess.

Hi, I have taken adderal most of my life as well. For me some days it gives me anxiety but most days it barely works, I can sleep through it other days. Most drugs affect me differently now that my Lyme is active, I have had to drop everything but adderal and my Lyme stuff. I now have narcolepsy probably caused by the Lyme (I don't think it's true narcolepsy, I think it will go away when the Lyme does, at least I hope.) I have noticed it can caused knots in my back and shoulders.

Shellazee hello! One of my first symptoms was that I was getting so tired and Adderall was no longer helping me stay awake. I would fall right asleep when I took it. I’ve been off of Adderall for months and I took it a few days ago and it made me crazy. Literally crazy. Like I couldn’t stop researching things on the internet and it was all conspiracy theory things and I could not handle it. I only took 20 mg xr and didn’t sleep for 2 days. Today I took 5 mg of Dexedrine and I was fine so I’m just going to take it slow going forward.
