After research and more research..despite negative testing. I'm pretty sure I have either Bart or Erli. I think rifampin can be used to treat both. Can doxy and rifampin be taken together?
Unfortunately my LLND I feel is relying too much on lab results. So I've scheduled an appt with a new LLMD.
The nurse keeps telling me my severe headaches are from die-off. Yet I had these symptoms before starting treatment. Very frustrating. The facial/neck/ temple pain is almost unbearable. When it kicks up it usually lasts a few days and by day 3 I get tingles in my head. Then the pain goes away for maybe a week and a half. I know headaches very well I've always been prone to them. But these..they are different and quite scary. :/

Yes, doxy and rifampin can be taken together.

Doxy is one antibiotic that treats Ehrlichia.

Generally Ehrlichia is taken care of when we treat lyme.

Thanks Girlie. What is your opinion on the awful pressure headaches? Does it sound like Bart to you?

When it comes to Bart, through my research, it can cause a whole host of symptoms, like Lyme. Dr J treats for Lyme, Bart, and Babs even if you don't test positive for co-infections. If you suspect you have bart, your LLMD should oblige your feeling and treat in my opinion.

I have pressure in my head behind my eyes..but not like a headache.

I treated lyme for about 9 months, then bartonella about a year and a half (with a couple of breaks) and still had some stubborn symptoms.

Decided to treat Babesia with Mepron...and after a few cycles - my head pressure increased...felt like my eyes were going to pop out of my head and my head was going to explode.

Now, it's not so bad. I'm wondering if it was a Babs herx.

It could be Bart causing your headaches . It's really difficult to know what infection is causing what symptom. Lots of overlap.

I have read that Dr. J. likes to treat Babesia early on..and feels it stalls out the treatment otherwise.

My LLMD has had me on Doxy and Rifampin for a couple of months now to treat Lyme and Bart. I've seen the most significant improvements while on both of these meds together. My doctor said one of the key symptoms he looks for with a clinical Bart diagnosis is the absence of ear wax. I'm finally starting to have a little return with treatment.

That's interesting about the ear wax, The Sal.

I don't have any either...but not sure I had any prior to lyme, though.

I'm thinking when I go back to Bart treatment, I will do Rifampin plus doxy.
