Posts on lost friendships are pretty common here every few months. Some peoples eyes role if you just say lyme. Proves who your real friends are. We lose friends depending on what we did with them- what made the friendship in the first place. When you cant do stuff, (the physical aspect) some people forget you exist.
On the other side of being ill, those who are getting better, but made health changes in diet for the better, face the social aspect of no longer blending in with social eating and drinking lifestyles. Eating better is hard enough, but no longer drinking when your friends still do?
Some peoples (non-lymies) social life always includes booze even though they aren't drunks. Seems the older people get the less "physical things/events" they do (lazy), but more just yapping while drinking they do, be it where ever. So if you no longer drink, ........see ya............
I just realized this as I went into the city today for a free outdoor concert / block party thing ......while walking by all the bars, some dives, some trendy new ones. And of course there's the newer hipster brewery/bars poping up all over the place.
We live in an alcohol driven society. I've heard this is the tough part once social drunks quit drinking (no more friends but in their AA group), but you dont even have to be a hard drinker to realize this.
I guess these people no longer serve any purpose in my life, as over time, we recently only talked about
things we used to do- over some beers/drinks ect. instead of actually doing things. They dont do anything anymore, except drink at the bar while reminiscing the old days.
No alcohol is part of my clean eating plan. Was never a hard drinker so this wasnt hard at all. That said, a good brew sounds pretty tasty with dinner after yard work ect but not all the time. Bloody Marys at 10 AM Sat with your omelet at the bar/VFW? - again?, thats all you want to do?... really? Lazier than me and they never had lyme for an excuse LOL.
just me talking out loud
