Hey im Mariah and I'm totally new to this but wanted to see if someone may can help me. I'm currently uninsured so it's making it hard to find out anything. August 22nd I noticed a strange rash on my neck and automatically went to the er who said ringworm. The rash went away after a few days but would come back in different spots on my neck. I then remembered I had had a strange bump on my chin that had gotten red and I worried it could have been a tick bite. Then I begin having knee and leg pain that would run all the way down to my feet, headache, upset stomach,recurring rashes, and nausea. I went back to er were the doctor gave me doxycycline once a day for a week. Does this sound like Lyme disease? And shouldn't I be getting more medicine than that? Also I would put a picture of my rash but not sure how.

Welcome Dreamcatcher94. I think if you google ringworm and lyme bull's eye rash, it might be easy for someone to get them confused.

Most lyme literate medical doctors don't take insurance, I have found.

You might get a book and try and treat yourself with herbs. You really should start doing this right away. It seems to me that the longer you have lyme untreated, the longer it takes to get rid of it. So jumping on it right away is important.

2 books come to mind - Healing Lyme-2nd Edition by Stephen Buhner and Unlocking Lyme by Dr. Rawls.

Hi Mariah and welcome to our forum,

If the rash was a bulls eye then you would be able to tell you definitely have Lyme. That being said not everyone that has Lyme gets a bulls eye.

If that was August of this year and you still are having symptoms you need more treatment.That was not enough.

The dose should be 400 mg a day of doxy for at least six weeks or more until your are 2 full months without any symptoms.

You would need an llmd(Lyme literate MD) which you can find here by enabling your email and then start a new post asking"seeking an llmd in your area".

You said you didn't have insurance and most llmds don't accept it. Llmds can be costly. Im not sure if an urgent care place would give you more or not.

You can also go to ilads.org and request physician referrals there.

There are some very good books for people that choose to self treat. They are Stephen Buhner's "Healing Lyme" 2nd edition and "Unlocking Lyme" by Dr William Rawls.

It sounds like you have a microbial/bacterial infection of some kind. And it is now systemic. Based on your symptoms lyme is probably near the top of the list.

As Goshawk mentioned - you need more treatment. Once daily doxy for a week isn't enough to treat it. The good news is it's a relatively new infection...which 'generally' is not as complicated to treat...but you should act on it now....so it doesn't become chronic.

Finding a LLMD to continue treatment is something we can help you with.
