Rifampin might be helping but now liver issies

I'm about one month into rifampin being added to doxycycline. I'm sssooo scared to even say it.... but it might be actually starting to help. I haven't felt like I was dying for the past few days. I really want to stay on it but my liver enzymes are going way up. I've added milk thistle and NAC. But I've read you shouldn't take milk thistle with rifampin or malarone. I'm on both. What's the best way to help my liver?

I didn't know you couldn't take milk thistle with Rifampin or Malarone.


However, I did switch the milk thistle to Pekana Apo-Hepat when my liver enzymes rose while on lyme abx.

I took a 2 1/2 month break off abx and started taking the apo-hepat...and the enzymes came down.

Then I started taking Rifampin and minocycline together and surprisingly the liver enzymes continued to drop.
They have been in range for 2 years now...even now that I'm taking Mepron for babs.

I have to have them checked again...I'm a bit worried they may be up...I've been taking the Mepron for 7 months now.

You might want to give the pekana product a try - it's a homeopathic liver support.

evanston you can switch to rifabutin which appears to be a more effective/powerful rifamycin class drug than rifampin and is easier on the liver. maybe you can ask your LLMD about it.

a rifamycin/doxycycline combo is very effective for bart
