Is Alinia really effective against Lyme?

I've read mixed reviews on Alinia and Lyme. Has anyone read any studies that supports this? And if any of you are on Alinia, did it cause GI issues for you? If so, how were you able to work through it?

I have both ALinia and Flagyl at home to add on to doxycycline and rifampin. I am anxious to add either one. I am terrified of c diff again. I am hoping to be able to tolerate Alinia because that feels a little less scary than Flagyl. Thoughts?

I've read that Flagyl has been shown to cause malignancies in rats and mice. So I am not too excited about that one.

I've read in various places that LLMDs are starting to use Alinia to treat the cyst form of lyme. Just wondering if anyone on this forum is using it in that way.

Evanston-My doc, who talks to the researchers all the time believes that Alinia hits Lyme, Bart, and Babs. When I'm on it I don't lose ground with the one I'm not treating like I do when I'm on other drugs that are specific to only one so I'd agree.

I do think Oxygenation treatments are key.

Dr. J in DC uses this with Dapsone and Daraprim (PZA) to hit parasites (like babesia) and some forms of Lyme.

If you are looking to use it as a front line Babesia med not too many are doing that as several prominent LLMD's have said it doesn't do much. Still if one isn't making progress against obvious Babesia its worth trying. When I used it it definitely hit something.
