What works best to deal with this? As I'm treating my anxiety is getting much worse.
But then...how do you know if your disease is just progressing? This is confusing.

You're probably herxing. If I were you i'd keep a journal. If your other symptoms are improving then you're probably getting better and just herxing.

I had to stay busy with some type of mental busy work. That kept my anxiety down. I sure slept a lot too.
Hubby had to do physical work to keep his under control.
I think it is best if you just keep on trying things to see what works for you.
Kava tea was awesome for me. Peppermint was so soothing. I also drank iced peppermint tea.
