Input Requested: Lyme Rash Expansion 5 Months Later

Hi -

I was bit father's day weekend; went on doxy the following Weds for 30 days. Came off doxy for 3 weeks, noticed a ring starting to form on my right chest cavity near where I was bit (not the a-typical red bulls eye ring), but a light blue band that slowly expanded until about 2 months ago with center being normal skin color.

Because os this my LLMD started me on Mino 2x100 / day followed by Tinidazole 2 x 500 (I could only take 1x500 bc of side effects).

On Sunday I noticed a couple small circular spots on my left chest cavity that have slowly crept in size (same color as above). Additionally, I am found 2 small center rings forming inside of my original ring near my bite.

I am nervous / having a ton of anxiety as I don't know what this mean. I am making a call to my doc today for a follow up, but not sure what else I can be doing.

I had lab work back in August, but everything came back negative. He still dx me as having Lyme due to symptoms.

Has anyone else had additional rings / rashes form while on treatment? I am 5 months into this battle (starting meds on max observation of day 5 of tick bite) and feel like I'm stepping backwards. It's disheartening and I feel alone.

What dose of doxy were you on for the 30 days?

I can’t be of much help sorry but I had an em rash that still shows months later when I’m in a hot environment (shower) I was advised that these can cause some staining.

Not sure about the expanding rash though sorry.

I believe he should have had you on 2x 200mg daily as per the guidelines for at least 6 weeks or until symptoms stop.

I will let one of the more experienced members advise here but what I do know from reading others posts is that there isn’t always hope!! People that have suffered for years have managed to get into remission and live a full life so stay positive

That’s unfortunate I was under prescribed antiobiotics in the beginning when I could have fought this off better.

I’m not sure what questions to ask my doctor next for next steps to treatment. Have an appointment tomorrow with him.

Sorry, this is all very overwhelming and I’ve been ridden with anxiety for the past 6-8 weeks.

I would just tell him your concerns.
