Hello. I am new to all of this yet I feel like I was thrown in at full steam! I first got sick in June 2017. I Was Hospitilized in July with severe head and neck pain, Bell's palsy and seizures. I was also unable to breathe. It was excruciating. Fortunately they suspected Lyme disease right away despite a negative Lyme test. They started me on IV antibiotics. during the course of the treatment my western blot came back positive and a bulls eye rash appeared on the back of my leg. After three weeks, I was still feeling crummy but they took me off antibiotics, saying "it would just take time for the residual meningitis to settle down." My primary and infectious disease doctor would no longer treat me, even through I could barely walk into their office and I couldn't catch my breath to talk to them. After several weeks of misery I found a Lyme Literate MD. She recognized I was very sick. It was discovered I also had Bartonella. She suspects Babesia as well as several other Coinfections.
I began medications and herbs in early September and have slowly been adding different treatments. Here's is what I am currently taking:
(In order of the order I added them)
Cefuroxime BiD
Minicycline BiD
Malarone BiD
Rifampin BID
Magnesium
MVi
Megasporebiotic BiD
Saccharomyces Boulardii Probiotic BID
Melatonin
Interphase plus 1 per day
L Carnitine
NAC 600
Aunti-V herb TID
Kudzu herb TiD
Pinella herb TID
I had to decrease my interphase plus because my reaction to it was so strong I thought I was dying.
I know people with Lyme are on so many meds. I was on nothing beside a MVI just a few months ago. I feel like I am constantly experiencing a herx reaction. But how can I know I am just not feeling crummy from all the meds I can taking. My herx reaction is severe head back and neck pain, I feel like I have metal bars jabbing from my back up into my brain, Intense joint stiffness often leaving me unable to walk and the hardest part is that I feel such terrible pressure pushing from behind on my spine. It feels like I have an elephant on my back pushing all the air out of my lungs. It gets so bad I feel like my trachea is being compressed and then I start coughing and gagging.
Do herx reactions last for months like this?
My Lyme doctor said I should cut back on the medications but I am afraid to do so, I just want to treat this to go away. Is a medication break a good idea?
Lately I have been so depressed. I sob and cry when I wake up at night because I hurt so much. I have never been depressed before. Should I add an antidepressant? Ugh. Another med. ☹️
I am 42 years old with 5 kids, including a 4 and 6 year old we just adopted from Haiti. I am really wiped out.
Any input would be appreciated.
