Azithromycin, Rifampicin, Artemisia

My LLMD wants me to take Azithromycin, Rifampicin and Artemisinin.

Does it even make sense to take this combo without adding in the Minocycline? My LLMD doesn't think I'm healthy enough to add the minocycline into the mix just yet as it can cause some ugly side-effects.

I'm really scared to take the Zithromax after reading the instruction manual. So many side-effects!

Sorry to hear this, but I don't know what is safe or not regarding meds. You should trust your doctor at that, but I know it's tempting to search for answers here as well.

I may be able to help you on your first question as I take azithromycin as well. Monday, wednesday and friday. Probably a reason why it's done like this, but don't know why. Just wanted to say that I do it the same way smile

Sorry to hear that.
I do get very upset stomach from it. Especially on empty stomach.

My LLMD has me taking regular heart checks but I'm not sure. I do get heart palps but not related to the azith I think

Hi Insomiaaa,

my few cents.

myself I am taking:

Zytromax 500mg M, D, F
Minocycline, 100 mg 2xday
Rifampin, 300 mg 2xday
Artemisin (plant extract) 400mg 2xday

I am controlling my QTc every three weeks. So far so good. I don't know which are the implications in case of your heart palpitations. So I can not say whether is it safe or not for you. In my case after 8 weeks I had to stop it because of a lowering in my platelets count. Otherwise I tolerated it very well. Actually I tollerated all of them very well.
Now my LLMD wants me to swich to Bactrim, but I am scared or it.

Crossing BBB does nothing to do with IV or oral. It has to do with the lipophilicity of the drug. So, oral is fine with these drugs.

As a support I am taking 1200 mg NAC and milk thristle and Keffir twice a day. This is saving my guts!!

My heart palps are part of Babesia. I was taking zithromax and rifampin when I had a major panic attack (now I know was a Babesia flare) and air hunger. I hadn’t been tested for nor considered Babs yet, so we stopped the zithromax to make sure it wasn’t a side effect.
It wasn’t the z-max. It was and is Babesia. I am now taking Mepron, biaxin, Artemisinin, and doxy, and the heart palps have been awful - no z-max

It did help to lower my thyroid medication, but it still happens. I think it’s one of the scariest symptoms of TBDs.

It can’t hurt to tell your doctor this. Likely if they do tests they will come back normal. Put it on the doc’s radar, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Keep detoxing and eating well and for me, they subsided greatly with treatment.
