I spot test

Hi everyone, just curious if anyone is familiar with the Ispot lyme test, I did that one before the Igenex and it was negative, I was very discouraged at the time since all my symptoms seemed to point to Lyme. I was positive with Igenex for Lyme and Babesia. Maybe the Ispot isn't as accurate?

There are two different labs performing this test. One in Wisconsin USA, (Neuroscience/Pharmasan labs) and one in Germany (I think so..name?).

I'm no expert on the USA version, but the i-spot is kinda odd, as it doesnt measure "bands" or antibodies. It provides you with two pieces of information:

1)It measures a reaction/strength of your bloods T cells subjected to their own culture(s) of lyme bacteria to somehow determine pos or neg. Apparently they proved anyone with active lyme has weak T cell strength. You have to have enough T cells for this test to work.

2)It also tells your T cell level / quantity compared to some range they determined is accurate among 400 non lyme people. The longer one has lyme, the less T cells in quantity you might have.

In the case of to low # of T cells, this means lyme itself is a possibility among only a few other things, some most likely still unknown.

The Lyme IGX Spot test:

Detects specific T-cell responses soon after B. burgdorferi infection, when antibodies to the organisms are not detectable or late in the disease, when the levels of antibodies are very low.
When combined with Lyme ImmunoBlot tests, information on the full spectrum of patient’s immune response to infection and stage of disease is obtained.
Is especially useful for seronegative patients.
