It took a combination of three herbs to bring that under control (and I have taken them for the last 8 years).
.
what 3 herbs? It's a simple combination of 1 part licorice root (watch your potassium levels if on this longer term), 1 part peppermint leaves, and 1/2 part of white peony root (red peony is not the same thing, although easier to find!).
I have to use high doses because I was left with this dysfunction for decades, but it's most likely due to dysfunction of the nerves in my intestines - wrong signals happening at the wrong time - and created psuedo-blockages.
I take 3 dose a day (sometimes 4 when my innerds cramp up really bad for days), and generally it's 2,000 mgs of the mixed herbs. I would suggest starting out on a much lower dose, as with higher doses, it can create the same issues because the intestines are "too relaxed" to do their job.
There may be other reasons for avoiding the use of these herbs long term as well as possible interactions with other herbs/meds, so be sure to check with your ND/Herbalist to be sure that it's right for you.
