So astro - do you personally this as well as using the foam rollers?
Or is this instead of....
Yes, I just started again last month. I do / have done every muscle release "treatment" that I've ever suggested here - that why/how I add some personal experience to it. The thing all these have in common is local re-inflammation, or micro re-injury, and *forced tissue circulation*. The different methods work better for different muscle shapes and depths, or for tendons vs muscles.
Foam body "rolling" is just an introductory starting point to a much wider array of muscle release health. It takes minimal effort,..... has minimal results too - but still worth doing. I graduated from the smooth rollers to a firmer knobby one that looks more like a torture device. Never hurt so good.
My left Biceps, Triceps, Deltoid and forearm are slightly bruised (good thing) from self Graston/Gau-sha this morning using the bathroom counter top edge and biofreeze gel. This left side also had frozen shoulder really bad 20 years ago, and flared up again four years ago, thus is still not as strong as the right side. The bruising will be gone in two days and I can do this again if needed. This is best for smoother med-long muscles. Deeper odd shaped muscles like glutes / TFL are best for trigger point release and active release.
If I was more hi-tech, I'd do a general muscle recovery/repair technique video series on you tube. Unfortunately, on you tube, if its not perfect quality and perfect presenting, people just complain. And It takes lots of hits before you make $ on you tube.
