I'm having a rough time with some of my symptoms. I'm not sure if anyone else experience this but I get chills all the time and my hands are constantly cold.

The chills started last summer and has stayed with me since. It makes me feel like crap all the time. From the research I have done it seems many means this could be babesia, but I'm not sure.

My hands have been cold for as odds long as I remember, but I habe started to think that I've had lyme for a long time. I've had stiff neck for 15 years and periodic night sweats, but my main symptoms stared last summer when it really went downhill.

Does anyone else struggle with this? Do you know which infection that causes it?

So much of that sounds like Babesia to me, Red Label.

When I was treated back in 2014 with Mepron and Mino ( I think) I would get cold chills all the time. Night sweats were a Babesia thing for me , too. Once I started treatment, the night sweats really kicked up. Neck pain, too.

Are you treating with abx or herbals?
Did you/or do you have any breathing issues, too?

I would also suspect Babesia due to the night sweats and chills.

Although many symptoms do overlap withe the various infections but night sweats, chills and air hunger(not sure if you have had that) are strong babesia symptoms.

Sometimes when we knock back one infection another one then shows up more dominate.

If your seeing an llmd maybe they could address this according to your symptoms.

I am cold a lot too. Prelyme I never had old feet - I would walk around the house barefoot - even in the winter. Now my feet are cold even with socks on.

I'm not sure about the chills - I shiver all the time but I can't figure out if it's chills or just adrenaline rushes.
My friend said the chills would be same as what you feel when you have the flu.
But I've never had the chills with the flu.

I had neck pain and it went away after treating for some time but has come back since I started Babesia treatment.

RedLabel - it does sound like you have Babesia symptoms.

My hands are mega cold almost all the time unless I am exercising. Before I quit nicotene that was not the case. I am curious about nicotine implications in Lyme. My symptoms changed dramatically when I quit nicotine in a bad way.

Do you have a history with nicotine?

Cold hands and the "chills" can be low thyroid related.

Extreme cases of cold hands have obvious circulation issues (turn white- called Reynard syndrome), and is common in untreated hypothyroidism.

As we know, these infections can take a tole on the thyroid gland. Free T3 and Free T4 not just TSH are the important thyroid tests.

Just something to check if you have not.

Peppermint: I'm treating with abx, doxycycline, azitromycine and plaquenil. I switched to this protocol 3 weeks ago, but I don't think there is a major difference from before I started it. It's been more or less a daily thing for over a year. No breathing issues

I have not had the night sweats for a while, but in the beginning it was pretty awful. Soaking wet every night.

Missouri: I do use some tobacco, but only occasional and it's not likely related.

Astro: OK. Yes, I've had every test under the sun ;)

I do think plaquenil is an anti malarial, so hopefully that will help if it is babesia?

For Babesia, the meds used are:

Mepron
Malarone

Those are the more commonly prescribed ones.


Others:

Alinia
Coartem
Clindamycin and Quinine


there may be more - that I can't think of right now.

Plaquenil may?? have some activity against babesia...but I don't think it would be enough to do the job.

I'm not even sure if I have it yet so I will at least try this protocol for some time.
I read that one of Horowitz's protocols is the one I'm on now, so hoping it will help. I will mention babesia to my LLMD during my next appointment
