Not quite sure what you mean. Can you explain more?

I lost a ton of weight too - from 113 to 87. Back up to 94. I have no real answers. I personally think the infections caused the severe weight loss, but I don't know which one(s). They are reputed to rob us of nutrients, so eating large amounts of nutrient rich foods (think veggies and some fruit) should help. If you don't feel bad eating meat, I would eat some healthy meat protein.

Some sources say white rice can be a better source of carbs, contrary to the "all white food is evil" stance that often gets pushed. Sweet potatoes may be good too.

Sugar, alcohol, and gluten are probably best left out, but I personally don't agree with not eating fruit unless there's a scientifically proven reason for you not to (or you feel worse when you do). God gave us fruit for a reason. Fruits have nutrients, vitamins, fiber, antioxidants, etc. that we need. I think a wide variety of vegetables, fruit, meat are important. Vegetables should be the largest in quantity. If you don't have problems with nuts or seeds, those might be good in moderation.

Gluten is probably bad mainly because there's simply too much of it in our food. If you don't have Celiac or gluten intolerance, I don't see any reason to obsess over it. Just be aware of it, and try to limit how much you're getting.

Most importantly, listen to your body. Medical testing for the infectious and gut dysfunctio are limited, expensive, and not fully reliable. There are an awful lot of assumptions made on the part of doctors and practitioners treating these illnesses. Sometimes they're right and sometimes they're not. That's why it's important to listen to your body and trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right for you, it probably isn't. There's a lot of adjusting we have to do on this journey with Lyme due to the changes the infections cause and the changes treatment brings.

All of this is simply my opinion. I have no medical expertise at all. Keep coming back and ask all the questions you need to. The folks on this forum have a wide range of experience and advice to offer.

agree with Girlie before and early into treatment i could eat a 25 lb porterhouse every day and lose weight. as i went through treatment and made gains my weight normalized. hey at least some of us had a good side effect from these critters!
