Hi,
Probably like most initial Lymes treatment, I did a 21-day course of Doxy two summers ago (had the bullseye rash). That was that. Life took over, my mom with severe Dementia came to live with me and my college grad son came home at the same time. For months, I took care of them both as my son did a suicide attempt a week after my Mom died (he was despondent over her death and also, not finding his "perfect" after-college career right away). Anyway, DS is still home, still depressed after 3, 90-day stints in one of the best facilities around. Enough about
that, but it plays into why I thought my short term memory loss, psychosis/irritability, migraines worsening and horrible fatigue was due to stress (and I'm sure it was/is, in part).
However, I've been getting intermittent fevers from low-grade 99.1 to a spike of 103 upon occasion. My neck, back, knees are killing me (I see a RA specialist in two weeks). I was in the ER last weekend with "stomach flu" they said, uncontrollable vomiting/diarrhea. I was just given an anti-nausea med and sent home. No antibiotics because I just finished a round for chronic parotid gland infections I get 4-5 x a year. ENT says I have to live with it or remove the gland.
I contacted my Internist when I wasn't getting better, and in fact, getting worse. I now have an upper respiratory thing where if I cough, I lose all bladder control and can't feel it happening (I've had no vaginal births). Yet my throat, etc. does not hurt.
So, these test results came back today. AB IGG & IGM Positive. Positive for Borrellia Burgdorferi. My CRP level is 39. My sed rate is 57. Blood urine plus 1 (whatever that is). "Low to moderate risk" infection can turn to sepsis/septic shock. Trace leukocytes. BUN 4 mg higher than range. I am two years out from my initial diagnosis. I've been feeling poorly, but as stated, chalked the fatigue, headaches, shortness of breath, short term memory major issues to severe stress--living with a chronically suicidal son is horrible and taxing.
My cholesterol and such was excellent, no issues there. At least something is good.
I guess I'm asking more knowledgeable people out here if Borrellia Burgdorferi is a "standard" thing lymes produces (I know there are a few strains of icky stuff). Two years out, will Doxy be of any help now??? Most of all, how worried should I be about
my heart and brain especially because I do have a slight, mild heart issue (a murmer and mild ventricular diastolic dysfunction) and my brain only because of my Mom, Dad & Grandparents all having stroke-related stuff.
I appreciate your time, thank you!!!!
