Any lymies out there react to MRI contrast dye?

Hey all-

Our LLNP ordered a MRI with and without contrast for our DD. The test is tomorrow.
Has anyone on here reacted to the contrast dye? She ended up in the ER after her HIDA
scan ( faint, difficulty breathing, rapid heart) and they said no one reacts to that.

I've had a couple of MRIs w/ contrast done in the past couple of years - had no problems. But I know that some people do (Lymees or not). Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way to know for sure. But I would call radiology and talk with the head nurse there - explain exactly what happened after her HIDA scan and let them know you're nervous and need them to be informed, etc...

And then when you get there, remind them that you called, etc.

Hi I do not get
a reaction to the dye. Just had an Mri last friday
I would just be sure that they are aware of her other reactions to anything.

Same here. I had no issue with the dye. Make sure to detox just in case. Whick you are probably doing anyhow.

Good to hear the three of you didn't react. You better believe I told the scheduler that my DD had an issue with HIDA and I will repeat the telling of the HIDA issue with the folks performing the MRI.

YES I DID!!!!!

I lost my vision (became extremely blurry) until they gave me an intramuscular shot of an antihistamine, I believe it was benadryl.

I thought I lost my vision permanently, it was scary.

Then when I did my second MRI they had it ready for me.

Thank you for sharing, Lyme Sick! That must have been very scary. I was thinking about giving her zyrtec before we went but I most certainly will bring your information with me. Thank you!

Lyme sick - do you think you have Mast Cell or histamine issues?

I never got tested for Mast Cell issues, but I had excruciating allergies as a child, so maybe I have histamine issues.

Good luck - hopefully she will react normally. The Zyrtec is a great idea. I have read some people have reacted to one of those used. It was in the news recently. I realize you are probably at the appt now though ;)

Not, yet, yancync! Leaving in a half hour. I am giving her Zyrtec, like you mentioned and telling them about the intermuscular benedryl shot, if necessary, at the suggestion of LymeSick.

Update: She took the Zyrtec 1 hour before and didn't react to the contrast smile They did have the intermuscular shot ready, if needed.

I knew nothing about MRIs before the procedure. Definitely not lyme friendly when sounds are your nemesis. So glad to have that behind us!
