A few things.
#1 Dude, how do you save those files like you are? What are you doing?
Hey, Georgia Hunter:
I'm going to mark this day on my calendar, as it will probably be the only time that I can offer something useful to you!
As you know, posting URLs in this forum is sometimes problematic. Some URLs work and others don't. Longer ones are sometimes the problem, but not always. I haven't figured-out the inconsistencies.
Anyway, to answer your question, I use the URL Shortener and Link Management website/service called
Bitly.
Just go to
/bitly.com and paste a URL in the box and click the red "Shorten" button to shrink the URL into one that's more manageable. Then, click the red "Copy" button to place the shortened URL onto your clipboard.
There are other similar services like
/goo.gl (by Google) and
/tinyurl.com, but I find Bitly to be preferable.
I hope all is well with you and your family.
Sincerely,
The Dude
Thanks for the info, but you are incorrect in the above statement. You have posted many things that have been beneficial to me. I look at many of the links people post and you have posted some good ones. I look at the link but even more importantly, I look into the references. I don't remember which one but not long ago, you gave me almost a week's worth of work. My thinking processes are sometimes different than other people and I am looking for things that most people don't even care about
. An example from this morning was about
a CBS699T mutation. It took 30 minutes to look up the 63-kDa subunit of the CBS gene and cross reference it to heat shock proteins expressed by bacteriophages. I got hits from Leptospirosis, Borrelia, Ricketsia, Strep, and I stopped after that. Too many without enough specificity.
So in actually, I should be thanking you. Thanks, Georgia. I'm always happy if anything I post helps anyone at all. I'm especially glad that something I posted was of value to you -- someone from whom I'm learned a lot.
Okay, that's it. You and I need to star in a Comedy Bromance. It'll be about
two zany guys who also happen to be dealing with Lyme Disease. Here are some thoughts on titles:
- You've Got Lyme (We meet on an online Lyme forum and then travel to a Lyme conference. Hilarity ensues.)
- When Georgia Met Dude (We drive across country together...and get Lyme. Hilarity ensues.)
- Sleepless in Georgia (I hear you on a national radio show talking about
Lyme. Hilarity ensues.)
I'll start making calls to get funding. But, I'm not sure if there's anyone left in Hollywood that's not under investigation!
Only if my character can be like Joey on Friends. I'd kill myself if people saw me like Sheldon.
