How Do You Take Artemisinin?

I have been adding in Artemisinin to my Babesia protocol and just wondered how people are taking it. So far I have just done 100mg twice a day for three days (working my way up to 3x a day) and then breaking for 11 days. So basically 3 days on every two weeks.

Some people say to take it daily, others say your stomach creates an enzyme after a number of days and makes it ineffective. I just feel like 3 days every two weeks is not enough to actually do anything.

Heres what I am taking:
Artemisinin
Mepron
Zithromax
Japanese Knotweed
Cats Claw
Houttuynia
CSA
NAC

Then I take a liver support pill every night when I wake up in the night around 4am.

I have been on this for a month now. Symptoms are really bad, but fighting hard.. dizzyness, fatigue, brain fog, memory issues, foot pain, etc. Just want to knock babs out and start dealing with bart.

I believe most LLMD's will not have you take Artemisinin daily - without breaks.


My LLND told me it should be pulsed. The LLMD who has the online Lyme Treatment Book also says pulsed.
Dr. J (Washington) - I've seen a few of his protocols - and he pulses everything.
The longest I've seen the Artemisinin is 5 days in a row.(with Dr. j's protocols)

And most of the forum members (from what I've seen) take it in a pulsed manner.


It's the whole herb Artemisia Annua that can be taken daily.

So, you're schedule is good.

You will want to get to a higher dose (eventually) than 100 mg 3X daily.
Each cycle you do, you should try to increase it (unless of course you're herxing badly)


When I was doing the 'rounds' of Artemisinin in 2016, I think my highest was 500 mg 3X daily.

Thank you so much for the info! I think I did see that Buhner wants you to reach 500mg 3x a day so that makes sense.

Is doing 3 days every week too much?

I did cryptolepis instead of art.

It was easily accessible and I could take it daily. I had such brain fog I could never remember to take something pulsed. It was just easier for me.

But remember we are all different and we all heal with different methods.

My LLND has me take it 5 days on, 2 days off. Mine is some kind of weird gel.

Your Artemisinin is in gel form? What brand is it?

I googled Art gel - never knew it existed.

Are you able to monitor the dosage accurately?

It's called Quicksilver Scientific and they call it 'emulsion'. I'm supposed to take 1 tsp once a day, and so I just scoop it out using a measuring tsp.

Okay - you still take it orally?

I found some that was topical...thought maybe that was what you are using.

Yes, orally. It tastes a little like grapefruit.

I just saw this thread and have a question - I have been prescribed Artemisinin by my LLND and he has told me to take 2 pills, twice a day. Each pill is 300 mg. So that means my starting dose is 1200 a day. 7 days on and 7 days off. After reading this thread I am a little nervous (ok, a lot...) when I see 100 mg a day a couple of times a day and working up...what can happen, or what side effects are people trying to avoid by taking small amounts and working their up to more? Both the LLND and the pharmacist said it's safe and no one mentioned any concerns to look out for. I would like to be prepared and know if I am missing something!

Cariboogirl - are you sure it's Artemisinin...and not Artesunate you've been prescribed?

You mentioned a pharmacist - and if you're seeing LLND EC - he does prescribe Artesunate.

But, i though it was 200 mg per capsule (compounded)

He also told me to take 2 capsules twice day. I didn't get to that dose.

I did several 'rounds' of Artemisinin though.
