If I was OK on Levaquin, would I be OK with Cipro?

I took Levaquin in the past (before Lyme diagnosis) and really disliked the side effects -- felt strange about the head and brain, and planned never to take it again. I now think that I probably had Lyme already and that was a herx. Now I'm being put on Cipro. If I didn't get "floxed" by Levaquin, does that mean I would be safe with Cipro?

most likely yes as the side effects that accompany this class of abx are harsher with levaquin versus the more milder cipro.

by the way your symptoms were most likely a co-infection like bartonella not lyme given what they are. cipro isn't very strong against lyme therefore the prominent LLMD's will use this to get some lyme coverage but primarily used to hit bartonella or other gram negative pathogens.

better abx for lyme is the tetracyclines or cephalosporins (omnicef and ceftin the most popular).

True. I was being lazy and using Lyme as shorthand for Lyme and co's.

So far Cedtin has been the best for me.
