What herbs make you herx?

Can you please list all the herbs that made you herx and can you describe the herx (what symptoms did it cause)? Also how did you ingest the herb and in what dose? And did it help at all? Thanks!

Bidens, Cats claw, Sida acuta, cryptolepis, could be more

Neuro herxing, internal vibrations, ear thumping, visual issues


all tinctures taken by mouth with a little bit of water added.

Cats claw 2 drops caused me issues

The others I only take about 15 drops 3 X day if I take more I start to have issues.

Knotweed, sida acuta, cryptolepis and cats claw. Crypto and sida cased intense neuro herxes but as I inched up the dose I stopped reacting and never got any better. I suspect they are bacteriostatic and like conventional antibiotics just drive them into dormancy? I don't know. Knotweed has helped the most, and cats claw maybe a bit.

Nothing really made me herx. I could have drank Knotweed by the bottle full, I think. Same with cat's claw.

But a drop of sida acuta or electrococcus gave me heart palps and heart flutters so I did not do those at all.

I think you will find we are all different. Maybe a few that are more common. But really you have to just try it and see.

the heart palps could just as well be a herx. sometime i get those after increasing my dose along with other herx symptoms and then they go away as I maintain the dose (as my other symptoms do). of course, do what feels right to you. just saying a herx can be any of our normal symptoms increased. or even those that aren't our normal symptoms but consistent with the disease.

Psilo the heart thing scared me so much I never did those herbs again. It very well could have been a herx, I didn't experiment. I just excluded them. I kept the bottles and thought, if at the end of my treatment I have just a little something still hanging on, I will try taking them again.

I never had to try taking them.

Cats claw seems to give me joint pain, although I’m restarting it with one drop a day to test my theory

I totally understand that. Heart problems were one of my earliest symptoms and they were incredibly scary. Heart disease runs in my family so... The only reason I tolerate the heart herxes is because I've been through it a billion times now and know I'm going to be fine. But i definitely become a little unglued each time.

Thanks for the herb->herx input so far.

Hawthorne (crataegus) is supposed to be good for the heart as well was motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca). You should probably take either one without mixing them as they both affect the heart in some manner.
I personally haven't herxed from either one of these two herbs yet but that's just me. Your experience may differ.

insomniaaa, Motherwort and Hawthorn were my first 2 tinctures. Like Psilo, I have heart related issues running in my family. My dad died of a heart attack at age 36. So, I was always thinking - is this lyme hurting my heart?

Oregano oil is the strongest part of the combination. I used capsules that were 70% carvarol - Nutricology brand was my choice because I didn't want a mix with olive oil. I am very allergic to it. Any good brand is OK. Capsules especially enteric capsules are better because oregano oil for some people is hard on the stomach - it is a mucous membrane irritant.
I just followed the amounts recommended on the bottle.
I used Now Foods Brand odourless garlic oil 1500mg from iHerb, The odourless brand is better you dont end up smelling like a pizzaria. This is a combination recommended by some traditional chinese doctors. I figured it would work and it does bring the bug load down. You have to take probiotics with it because oregano oil nukes the guts good flora.

Artemisinin - although it's not whole herb - but the active constituent. it did give me a herx.

I didn't herx on JK, CC, Sida, Crypto, Houttuynia, Alchornea cordifolia.

JKW, cat's claw, sida acuta, IHA (isatis, houttynia, alchornia combo). Just started Bidens pilosa at 5 drops and phellodendron and kudzu at 10 drops. Not sure if they're causing any herxing or not.

When I initially became sick, I was on a variety of antibiotics as well as herbals. Samento and banderol never made me herx...if I remember correctly, A Bart made me herx but it was the A Bab that made me feel terrible. I don't think I got past 4 drops. Right now I am doing Beyond Balance mc bb 2 and mc bar 2 along with several antibiotics. The mc bar 2 is making me herx so I had to cut my dose in half.
