I'm scared and obsessed with my Adam's apple. I have an asymmetrical side, bigger than the right and my head is playing a hard time, and makes me believe that before I did not have it like that .... Now I touch it 200 times a day, without exaggerating .. .. Every click I hear or feel pain, my mind relates it to loss of cartilage and more deadly diseases such as polychondritis ... Today I have had an mri of neck and ears, I hope everything goes well ... (well, I want to say, without degenerative changes in those cartilages, because the cervical ones I have damaged them) I am losing the papers and I think that I am not going to know how to take this situación alone...
I know you're scared..for me fear is actually a symptom.
Now that I'm feeling better somewhat since treatment - my fear has lessened. i'm not so worried about
the crunchy area on the front of my neck anymore.
I believe pre-lyme, I probably had some anomalies but didn't know because I hadn't scanned almost every inch of my body and wasn't poking and prodding everything.
I had some degeneration show up on my cervical and thoracic spine...both my chiro and regular Dr. said it's not unusual for anyone over 35/40 years old to have some. Mine isn't severe...but of course back then (pre lyme diagnosis) I was worried every time I read a report.
Just because you have "x" doesn't mean its' causing your symptom.
My husband was in a bad car accident...and it messed up his back for a few years. MRI showed more than moderate degeneration.. After a year, he still had some pain in a certain area, and the orthopedic surgeon told him it was as good as it would get. In fact, he'd probably have arthritis set in and he'd end up having more pain. (How depressing is that?)
He just said to himself (f--k that) and worked hard on rehabbing his body...along with using DMSO and sure enough he succeeded at becoming pain free. That was 2001 (around there, can't remember exactly) - still no issues today.
His PCP told him that he's seen really good mri's of backs...and people have back pain...and shoddy looking ones..and people have no pain.
I'm rambling...sorry. But, please try not to worry already - don't borrow trouble.
