Taking levofloxacin for a sinus infection

Hi everyone....so as I was flying on a 15 hour flight, I caught a nasty sinus infection that won't be resolved anytime soon based on how I'm feeling right now. I went to the doctor and he prescribed 5 tablets of 500 mg levofloxacin. I'm worried about tendon damage, but the doctor said he prescribed it to many people without any issues (in fact he said it's the most effective abx that's usually prescribed for most infections). It's worth noting that where I come from they prescribe this class of drugs without a black warning box. Any thoughts?

I've always read horror stories on the internet about this drug, so I'm really scared of trying it. My dad took it for a bladder infection and told me that he couldn't get proper sleep for months as it felt like his mind was alert 24/7. He also got joint and tendon stiffness, but that resolved rather quickly. I'll just see how I feel after I finish the 5 tablets
