That Brain Swelling Feeling -- what to do?

I think Japanese Knotweed was what helped me. It is so hard for me to tell because I was taking so many things.

I think many on here say Kudzu is great.

Thank you for these ideas, as I have several of these at home now so will try tonight! (probably knotweed, maybe burbur if I can find, and fish oil at least. . . ).

Think I'm in the same boat. Scary. I've been taking burbur and pinella and just for the first time took a combo the dr recommended, I think for inflammation -- curcumin (turmeric) + fish oil + vitamin C. Will be looking for other ideas.

Good protocol. Burbur and Pinella does help. Fish oil is helpful. And then can't go wrong with Vit C to boost immune system.

Notime really interesting you mentioned about the salt b/c whenever I have this, I crave salt like there's no tomorrow, and eating a lot of it *does* seem to help. I hadn't been able to explain why as it's not really related to worsening of POTS symptoms, lowered bp, etc.

All I could find last night was evening primrose oil and flax seed oil so took both of those and am ordering the rest, esp. the burbur and pinella and more fish oil. Sometimes my brain is so out of it that I forget which supps I ran out of already.

I agree something needs to be switched up in the protocol, though I think I'm also having a worse than usual herx b/c of re-adding mimosa pudica, which for some reason *for me* has been the strongest herb I've tried for babesia duncani, whereas all of the other recommended ones did next to nothing -- which could indicate other parasites or something but I don't think so as I also have been on Alinia for over a yr. So . . .hard to say. The first time I took this herb I had a fever and night sweats almost immediately which was a pretty clear babs herx. I also get really bad brain swelling feeling stuff around babs overall so I do think it's related but maybe that means I should slow down on the herb too.

I would encourage you to have your blood sodium levels checked as well as getting a 4 point saliva test for cortisol (blood tests simply aren't accurate enough). When my adrenals were failing, my blood sodium was very, very low (my doctor actually told me I needed to start adding salt to everything!!), and my cortisol levels ended up flat lining before I could get anyone to believe me.

As for brain swelling, I use kudzu root, and it's works well for me.

I keep dexamethasone on hand but this was in case I experienced actual brain swelling while using albendazole. In case I had a tapeworm egg in the brain. Luckily there was no need to use it but it was very cheap, and available in small doses to accommodate any level of it.

You probably dont need any but you never know. I just wanted to be prepared and cover all bases.

If for any reason someone thinks this would be a poor choice or on the other hand knows the optimal dose per kilogram of weight for this instance, please let me know. You can never be too prepared.

While I've always said there is an appropriate time and place for steroid use, even with Lyme patients, I hope you never have to use it, CA!!! I know that you know the issues with steroid use during an active infection.

i have had dramatic results with head pressure using DMSO

put some on my temples, behind the ears, base of the skull, and on the small of my back. I usually feel much better within the hour.

do that everyday for a week and i guarantee you will feel a lot better.

I could rattle on for hours about adrenals, testing adrenals and more. LOL! So, if you have specific questions, let me know. I've learned a whole lot while treating my own....without a doctor, as there were none in my area that was willing to test me(talk about crazy!!). I had all the symptoms of thyroid and serious adrenal issues, and still no doctor would test me until I started seeing a doctor that refused to take insurance.

Something else that is frequently used for brain pressure is kudzu root. I wouldn't have a working brain if it weren't for Kudzu root and a few other things!

if the brain swelling is from built up toxins then Jernigan's Anti Tox II CNS/PNS works wonders.

Just Piccd, I won't even try to remember how many times I've not been able to remember to get something tested, buy something, do something - LOL! My brain has been all but non-functioning (or so it seems) at times, and we just have to cut ourselves some slack on that. I mean, after all, we are sick!! And, this is a great place to discuss the possibilities of whatever so that you can hopefully see if it's something you need.

I used to crave salt so much that I was eating a handful daily, right out of the palm of my hand - and that is one of the possible symptoms of your adrenals struggling.

Best of luck with the testing (hoping that it will show a definite result one way or another), and do let us know!!! I've been treating my own thyroid and adrenal issues for the last 3 yrs and have made some good progress, although I would have much rather had a competent doctor to help me!
