What is happening to me? I'm having horrible panic attacks after taking rifampicin. I'm sitting on the couch, and suddenly I have the feeling that I'm going to die ... Is it normal? I'm scared

Rifampin is targeting bartonella infection. Anxiety and panic attacks could be part of a bart herx.
What else are you taking with the rifampin?
Are you able to do more detoxing?
What helps me a lot when I'm feeling really bad is a warm epsom salt bath. I also put a few drops of lavender in it.
Do you have any herbal - calming teas you can make a cup of?
Next time you're shopping for groceries...maybe look for a tea.

It really does sound like a bartonella herx (worsening of the symptoms you're treating, which is good but not always pleasant).
You could also try Alka Seltzer Gold in water with lemon (can help w/ a herx, for some reason).
GABA Calm supplement. Magnesium (Epson salts would provide this). Coffee enemas are what help me reverse a herx in the middle of it.

The fasciculations - also likely part of your bart herx. (But lyme also causes the 'twitches )
Just try to rest today...and take care of yourself...keep telling yourself that this is temporary..and it will get better.....
Do you have a magnesium supplement?
That is a good supplement...I take it everyday. While it didn't help with my fasciculations...others have reported that it did for them.
Nonetheless - it help the nervous system.
I buy Magnesium glycinate. It doesn't have the tendency to cause loose stools like some of the other types do.

>>Rifampin is targeting bartonella infection
it does a lot more than that it. it penetrates the BBB well and improves the effectiveness of tetracycline drugs to kill lyme persisters hence why this combination is deadly to bugs in the brain and causes all those neuro/psych issues.
it's also a biofilm buster so who knows what is being loosed.
it also has a mechanism of action that's unique amongst all the antibiotic classes which is quite effective in ways no other abx can be.
it really is a wonder drug for fighting these pathogens though it is quite hard on the liver for some.

Another thing to do to give you a little bit of relief quickly, is to lower you next few doses of the Rifampin. As long as you were tolerating the other abx well enough, you can increase your detoxing and lower your Rifampin doses some to keep you from having to stop it.
Either way, I do hope you feel better soon!!! Herxing can certainly be miserable!
