The tetra dose is 750mg twice a day. This is the original Donta protocol, and he would switch to Biaxin/Plaq during the sunny months. I did this back in 2010-2011 with Donta. And my current LLMD started me on it in 2015 with various other full time and pulsed ABX combos through present. I had taken tetra long term in my teens for acne and I never had any sun exposer issues, even with constant outside sports all day long.
She has also prescribed me doxy or mino in the past with other combos. I think her logic to try Tetra was just to change things up, and the returning trends to follow Donta's original protocol, but with adding other ABX.
Donta was a well published Lyme research professor and was a ranking IDSA member drafting their Lyme treatment guidelines. He casted the only dissenting vote to those guidelines trying to include chronic lyme dx. He is now retired from practice, but is still involved with Lyme research.
