So, this happened three days ago?

I suggest you go to another Dr. and get another prescription for Doxy. You should be taking 200 mg twice daily. How many weeks of doxy did you get? You want to nip this NOW....to minimize your chances of a chronic lyme infection.

You will want to take the 200 mg twice daily doxy for several weeks.
Looks like you are developing an EM (bullseye rash) - which warrants 6 weeks of abx.

I have pasted a link to the Lyme treatment guidelines (ILADS) below - scroll down to page 19:


"EARLY LOCALIZED - Single erythema migrans with no constitutional symptoms:
1) Adults: oral therapy- must continue until symptom and sign free for at least one month,
with a 6 week minimum."

Page 18 in the guidelines will show the doxy dosage (200 mg twice daily)

You can print the information off and bring it to your Dr.
Find another Dr. if your Dr. won't give you enough doxy.

I have several LLMD"s listed for MA. Send me an email if you want the contact information.
When you call them, explain you just got bitten and have the rash...and need to see the Dr. a.s.a.p.
You don't want to have an appointment several weeks out. Hopefully you can find a LLMD that will take you in right away.

Take the doxy with food. (But not foods with calcium and magnesium - so no dairy)

Can you go to a third Dr and get another script?

I understand that you can’t afford to see a LLMD (I have read your email) but do you realize how debilitated you can be if this goes chronic ? You may not be able to work - financially that will be a lot worse than the cost of a LLMD appt.

I haven’t been able to work for 4 years now. You may just need one appt with a LLMD to nip this now.

Next time you go to the Dr take the Lyme Treatment Guidelines with you,

I suggest that if you can’t get enough doxy that you buy some herbs and continue to treat herbally.

Since it’s not chronic Lyme at this point - you can take Astragalus. See if you can get it locally - if not purchase it online.

That is what you need - the right amount of doxy for the right amount of time.

What knowledge have you been given?

Do what you can....to get this treated and not have it go chronic. I can't emphasize this enough.

As of right now I got a 50 billion cfu probiotic that is sealed in individual cases so no refrigeration required. Also got the astralagaus root as I've heard alot of people say that helps. Got a multivitamin for good measure too.

Going to make an appt with a third Doctor and bring that paperwork. He is a nicer guy and may give me what I ask for. As of right I'm sticking to 400mg doxy a day, eating alot of green veggies,seeds, tuna and turkey. And taking the vitamins/supplements. Also getting a gym membership when I get out of work.

I hope this will be enough to halt this from getting worse. Here's another pic of the bite, about 2 days after removing tick now. https://imgur.com/a/qU6J1

I'll keep this post going as a way to show progression/ways to treat possible early Lyme. Wish I could rename the post lol.

Would you consider taking "fish" doxy available from a pet store? I heard it is the same as the Rx.

I'm stressing out. Insurance won't cover more doxy until the 9th. And then that still won't be enough for the recommended dosage. I might end up spending a ton of $$$ that I don't have paying out of insurance and seeing a LLMD. I wish the two doctor's I've seen actually helped me instead of telling me to shrug it off. That is infuriating me right now. Now I'm going to be paranoid for the rest of my life that I have Lyme. I have aches and pains in knee, elbow and I think kidneys and I'm not sure if it's me being paranoid or not. Extremely tired constantly. Also a headache when I woke up. Awesome. I should have NEVER gone down to see my mom in the woods and just stayed in the city. I knew it was a bad idea, but didn't think I'd get lyme disease out of it.

Now I am just getting out of a severe alcohol/weed addiction and only been 1 month 1 week clean so that could be attributing to the fatigue. And the pains/headache could just be the way I slept and normal due to all the medicine/vitamins I'm taking now. But, not sure.

Girlie - doesn't look like they have doxyclyine on AllDayChemist online. Dox T-SL seems to be the only thing even close.
