Hey! I'm new here!
Just got my Lab work back, wondering if anyone can help me understand my results. I understand its a weak positive but what does that mean exactly? Due to it being a weak positive does that mean it's a weak infection then? I'm just not sure any help is appreciated! I am from Canada and used Armin Lab for private testing.

Borrelia b. Full Antigen 3SI
Borrelia burgdorferi LFA-1 2SI
(all other testing for co-infections came back negative)

0-1=negative
2-3=weak positive
>3=positive

I am working with a LLDoctor here! She wants me to start Mino 100mg twice a day

It aren't high numbers but that doesn't mean you can't have it.

My advice would be to see if you herx (get worse) from the medication at first, that can be sort of a confirmation that you do indeed have it.

Hi J. MMommy - welcome! A weak positive - is still a POSITIVE. Is your LLND willing to continue to treat you - based on a clinical diagnosis and this test result?
Where in Canada are you? (If you're willing to share )

I'm on the West Coast - BC .

mono therapy(mino) will not kill it in all its forms ...but if its just a ab test and it lit u got lucky your immune system is still intact a bit ,,,,welcome congratuladolences

I'm in Alberta! Yes, my LLMD is working with me still! I have been taking abx like she said (I'm on day 4 of taking it) and have gotten worse overall. Last night was a different story. It was unbearable. My main symptoms are head/face pressure, plugged ears and numbness. All of those symptoms were horrible last night and into this morning, I'm assuming herx?? I'm still so new to this and my LLDoc isn't easily available to talk to. Im on probiotics but am thinking I need to better detox? I also think this probably confirms the lab results, no? Thanks for commenting everyone!

I'm wondering who you are seeing.

I know of only one LLMD in Alberta - and I believe he's an ID Dr. but wasn't taking new patients - as he had a waitlist of a year.
Unless, there's another LLMD that I'm not aware of.

Do you know what the plans are for continued treatment? As bluelyme mentioned mono therapy is not recommended to treat lyme.
It's fine to start with one - and minocycline is a good one...but hopefully your Dr. will be adding a second one in soon.

Yes, sounds like you're herxing. Have you read the "New to Lyme?..start here!" thread? It sits at the top of the page. There are detoxing ideas in there.
I would start detoxing a.s.a.p. Start with a few ...and every few days add in another one.

You are taking probiotics daily, right?
And something for your liver?

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water daily.

Minocycline IS a good antibiotic for Lyme.

Monotherapy isn't recommended for chronic Lyme - ie taking only one antibiotic at a time - it should be paired with a second one,

And you will need something for the biofilms and cyst form of Lyme. Mino doesn't address either.

There are several options - Ceftin, Azithromycin, Biaxin, Bactrim DS
If you're treating the coinfection Bartonella - then Rifampin or Rifabutin is good.
